History
W. H. Bass was formed to provide General Contractor services on commercial
projects throughout the South. In June, 1984, Bass was incorporated and
began focusing its efforts on a target segment of the commercial market.
Not a lot has changed over the years. The primary focus of Bass has always
been to provide the highest level of service to meet the unique demands of
the restaurant, retail, petroleum, banking and medical industries.
We are committed to our customers and we are committed to providing the
best service, best quality and shortest schedules within this niche. Service is
the only commodity we have to market. Our continued success is a function
of our ability to provide this high level of service to our customers.
Staff
W.H. Bass is made up of individuals who thrive on responsibility, are driven
by success, and who take a challenge as far as it can go. We go above and
beyond to provide outstanding service to our customers. Quality and integrity
are important to us. We rally under challenges and we believe in hard work.
Our organization runs lean. Currently we maintain a workload of 20-25 jobs
in progress. Our project teams are empowered to take charge and make the
decisions it takes to get the job done. That credo has enabled Bass employees
to flourish and make crucial contributions towards our customers’ success.
Superintendents
When we ask our customers “How are we doing?”, they always tell us we have
the best Superintendents in the industry. Superintendents are solely responsible
for everything that happens on their jobsite from the schedule to the last detail
of quality. At Bass it is clearly understood the rubber hits the road on the jobsite.
8 Project Managers
W.H. Bass Project Managers are some of the best in the business. There is a
heck of a lot more to this position than running 3-4 projects. The PM is a true
builder; he is responsible for the entire customer relationship at every phase.
He’s responsible for an entire profit center and ultimate outcome of each of his
projects and, most importantly, exceeding the customer’s expectation.
3 Estimators
Our estimators know our customers’ buildings inside and out. Producing a great
value in terms of the cost for development is the first part of the service we
provide. The estimator is also our first line of contact for subcontractors. Bass
has a well established subcontractor base. We are always looking for new
subcontractors and continue to build relationships with current subs.
5 Contract Administrators
The Contract Administrator is the administrative and accounting backbone of
the project. The CA is responsible for paying subs and suppliers, invoicing
owners, preparing subcontracts and purchase orders, and sending out plans.
This position works very closely with the Estimators, Project Managers,
Superintendents, Subcontractors and Suppliers as a coordination link and a
facilitator.
Teams
At W.H. Bass, we staff each project with an on-site Superintendent, a Project
Manager and a Contract Administrator. It is important to us that our customer
always has someone to answer his or her questions or provide additional service
when needed. Having our teams be project-based ensures prompt response and
full accountability. Our teams are empowered to make decisions and take action.
Ownership
At W. H. Bass, ownership is built around a “cornerstone” structure ensuring that
there is an owner involved in every aspect of the company.
Marty Robinson, our President, closely monitors our Superintendents and what takes
place in the field. David Carr, CFO, focuses on whatever it takes to ensure that the
business runs smoothly.
Dave Lee, in his role as Vice President, oversees Project Management. Carl Herndon, CEO
and founder of W. H. Bass, retains the role of providing the company with a clear
strategic vision and ensuring it remains true to its values.
