Currently Seeking

 

Estimator/Sr. Estimator

W. H. Bass, Inc currently seeks an estimator/Sr. Estimator to fill a full-time, salaried position at our suburban Atlanta office in Johns Creek, GA. The successful applicant will have experience as a commercial construction estimator dealing with new, ground up construction as well as additions and interior renovations. Individual will also be able to think strategically in a manner that most effectively positions W. H. Bass to acquired targeted projects.

The selected candidate will be responsible for carrying out the following duties:

  • Construction plans and specification take offs for the purpose of preparing quantity, material and labor cost estimates
  • Identification and vetting of qualified subcontractors and vendors
  • Identification of potential risks and possible value engineering
  • Ability to generate timely and relevant requests for information from the bid recipients prior to bid date
  • Ability to develop and prepare conceptual budget estimates for both building and site in order to assist our clients to make well informed decisions regarding land acquisition and project development
  • Ability to effectively write clear bid notes of explanation to accompany final bid submittal
  • Review of scope with selected subcontractors and procurement of bids, throughout bid and buyout stages, in a timely manner
  • Offsite travel to visit potential project sites and attend pre-bid meetings; some of these trips may consist of overnight or multiple day visits

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • College degree (preferably in engineering or construction management) or experience in lieu of degree
  • At least five years of commercial building construction estimating experience

Required Attributes

  • Strong organizational skills
  • Proven ability to simultaneously manage multiple tasks and meet scheduled deadlines
  • Outstanding attention to detail in order to carefully document basis for individual trade quotes and subsequent bid notes
  • Outstanding technical skills and familiarity with on screen take offs and database programs
  • Ability to effectively communicate with a broad range of people including fellow staff, clients, architects, subcontractors and others involved in the bid and pre-construction process
  • Ability to extract post bid intelligence from owner including, but not limited to actual low bid price, awarded contractor and major factors in the award decision in cases where W. H. Bass is not awarded project
  • Ability to work closely with Project Manager to facilitate transition of project, to Project Manager, once project has been awarded to W. H. Bass

Superintendent

W. H. Bass, Inc. is currently accepting resumes from experienced traveling, commercial construction superintendents. The successful applicant will have a proven track record as a commercial construction superintendent dealing with new, ground up construction as well as additions and interior renovations. Experience in the construction of restaurant, petroleum/convenience store, bank/credit union and retail projects highly desired.

The selected candidate will be responsible for carrying out the following duties:

  • Coordination of all field personnel and trade contractors to ensure that the project is successfully completed on schedule and within budget
  • Working effectively with subcontractors to ensure quality workmanship in accordance with project plans and specifications as well as client requirements
  • Effectively manage project construction schedule and coordinate with all parties to ensure project is completed by designated delivery date
  • Maintains professional and positive relationships with clients, trade contractors, suppliers and fellow employees
  • Maintains effective relations with local building officials and inspectors. Schedules all necessary inspections and material delivery in a manner that ensures on time schedule performance
  • Maintains an organized and safe worksite by ensuring that W. H. Bass safety policies are carried out. Promotes job site safety, institutes safe work practices and immediately addresses and rectifies any job site hazards and unsafe worksite practices
  • Ability to effectively communicate job progress and issues to W. H. Bass Project Manager.
  • Prepares schedules and executes final punch list

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Experienced in scheduling, ordering, field supervision, quality control, and production of all phases of commercial construction
  • Experience as a traveling commercial building construction superintendent
